Derivation and Characterization of a ES-Like Cell Line from Indian Catfish Heteropneustes fossilis Blastulas
A cell line designated as HFB-ES was established from blastula stage embryos of H. fossilis (Singhi). The embryonic cells were harvested and maintained in Leibovitz's medium supplemented with 15% fetal bovine serum. The cell line had been subcultured for more than 90 passages in a period of 24 months. HFB-ES cells were able to grow at temperatures between 25 and 35°C with an optimum temperature...
متن کاملMicrocystin-LR: Effects on Freshwater Catfish Heteropneustes fossilis Prolactin Cells
Background: Previous studies have been reported on the toxicity of Microcystin-LR, which is produced by cyanobacterial growth in fish, such as Heteropneustes fossilis (H. fossilis). However, no studies have been conducted on the effects of Microcystin-LR on the prolactin cells of H. fossilis. Methods: H. fossilis fish were intraperitoneally injected with Microcystin-LR (2.5μg/25g) and sacrif...
متن کاملBioinformatic Analysis, Structure Modeling and Active Site Prediction of Aquaporin Protein from Catfish Heteropneustes fossilis
Aquaporins (AQPs) are membrane channel proteins which facilitate the rapid transport of water across cellular membrane and are of fundamental importance to the control of cell volume and transcellular water traffic. In the present study using bioinformatic tools an in silico modeling and analysis of aquaporin protein sequences of catfish Heteropneustes fossilis was conducted. Primary structure ...
متن کاملThe relation of nucleic acids to condition factor in the catfish, Heteropneustes fossilis.
The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between RNA and DNA concentrations in body tissue and the condition factor in the catfish, Heteropneustes fossilis. RNA was related curvilinearly to condition, while DNA maintained a reciprocal relation. The biochemical basis of changes in condition and the effect of these changes on tissue specific gravity have been discussed and the rela...
متن کاملBiochemical Changes in Blood of Freshwater Catfish Heteropneustes fossilis Exposed to Microcystin-LR
Present study reveals the effects of microcystin-LR (2.5 μg/25g bw) toxins on certain biochemical parameters in blood of H. fossilis. In treated fish serum bilirubin, serum cholesterol, serum creatinine and serum urea levels are increased. Serum protein content of treated fish is decreased. Present study suggests that MCLR is toxic to fresh water catfish Heteropneustes fossilis.
